Christos Alexandrou joined Charles R. Weber in 1998 as a broker and was invited to join the board of directors in 2006; subsequently being named co-Managing Director in 2021. Christos was born and raised in London, starting his career with Howard Houlder, in 1993. He arrived in the U.S. in 1996, working with Southport Maritime. Christos graduated with Bachelor of Science Honours degrees in Economics / Social Psychology, from Loughborough University, England.
Christos Papanicolaou joined Charles R. Weber in 2013 as Director of Business Development currently is Co-Managing Director. Christos brings years of experience in ship finance, capital markets, S&P and projects. Prior to joining Weber, Christos was Founder and Officer of Universal Maritime, Inc., an oil major-backed equity offering structure and was Founder and Managing Director of GP Trading. Christos spent over 20 years at Groton Pacific Carriers, where he was involved in all aspects of tanker ownership. Christos graduated from Hofstra University.
Keith Abbott joined Charles R. Weber in June of 1999 as a broker and currently serves on CRW’s board of Directors since 2006. Prior to joining Weber, Keith worked as a broker for Poten and Partners in New York City from 1991. Born and raised in the U.S. East Coast, Keith graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a concentration in Finance.
Kevin joined Charles R. Weber in 2001 as a broker. Prior to joining Charles R. Weber, Kevin worked at Islandia Chartering and Maritime Direct. Kevin graduated from SUNY Maritime College in 2000 with an Unlimited Third Mates license.
Jim joined the Charles R. Weber Company in 2015. Prior to joining Weber, Jim was Managing Director of OSG Lightering in Houston between 2007 and 2014. Prior to his lightering endeavors, Jim worked as a Chartering Manager and Crude Oil/Feedstocks Trader for Fina Oil and Chemical in Dallas. Jim holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from Texas Christian University.
Diana Esteves joined the operations department of Charles R. Weber in 2014. Prior to joining Charles Weber, Diana worked as a vessel operator for OSG Ship Management, Inc. and Heidmar Inc. Diana’s first work was as a boarding ship agent for GAC and Rice, Unruh, Reynolds Company in New York Harbor. Diana is a graduate of SUNY Maritime College where she earned a B.S. in Marine Transportation and Business Administration and her Unlimited Third Mates License.
David Herman joined Charles R. Weber in 2020 as a Director and Head of Capital Markets. David brings deep corporate finance and capital markets expertise to the firm. Throughout his 25 year career on Wall Street, David has worked at a number of prestigious firms, including Credit Suisse where he was the head of the maritime investment banking practice. David has also worked at small advisory firms, at a family investment office, and as an entrepreneur. David holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Peter joined the Charles R. Weber Company in 1985 as a broker and has been a director of the company since 2001. He is currently a manager of the ASBA Tanker Broker Panel and is on the Board of Directors of the Worldscale Association. Peter was previously a tanker broker at D and L Services and before that worked at U.S. Lines. He commenced his career in the maritime industry at Mobil Shipping and Transportation. Peter graduated in 1981 from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
Larry joined Charles R. Weber Company in 1988 in the operations department. He has been a broker with the company since 1990 and a director in 2001. Before joining Weber, Larry worked for Gibbs and Cox. He graduated in 1986 from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point with a BS in Nautical Sciences/Marine Transportation and a Third Mate's license.
John Kulukundis joined Charles R. Weber as a research analyst in 2005. Prior to that John worked as a tanker and projects broker for Charles R. Weber and various European and Far East brokerages. He worked on the chartering desk for ship owners London and Overseas Freighters and was at sea for two years.
Capt. Larry Liu sailed worldwide on various type of vessels after graduation from Dalian Maritime University in China, and then landed ashore in management role at COSCO. He followed this with extensive operational and chartering experience in both tanker and dry bulk trades in the United States for more than 15 years before joining Charles R. Weber Company on the crude chartering desk in 2013. Capt Larry also liaise on project and business development in China and Asia area, and he also wears the hat of Asia Ambassador for CMA.
Rob joined Charles R. Weber in 2019 as a market and legal analyst. Prior to joining Weber, Rob was a financial products and derivatives attorney for Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells and McDermott Will & Emery. Previously, Rob worked as credit and collections manager and bunker analyst for Trans-Tec Services. Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law.
Diana Hegelund Madsen joined Charles R. Weber Operations Department in 2014. Diana graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a BS in International Maritime Business. As a cadet, Diana spent a month with the Panama Canal Authority in 2013, conducting ship inspections on tanker vessels and learning about Panama Canal transit and scheduling operations.
Mike joined Charles R. Weber as a broker in February 2014. Prior to joining, Mike worked as a broker at MJLF & Associates for 6 years primarily focusing on the VLCC and Suezmax sectors. Prior to that, he worked in fixed income commodities trading at both Morgan Stanley Capital Group and Lehman Brothers in New York City. Mike is a graduate from Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business in 2004.
Daniel joined Charles R. Weber in 1994 in the operations department and became a broker in 1997 after a brief training period at EA Gibson in London. During this time, he helped develop the clean products desk and became a company director in 2008. He currently continues to focus on clean petroleum products and specialized trade. He graduated from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. in 1993 with a degree in political science.
Richard joined Charles Weber in 2014, bringing 26 years of experience in commercial operations/bunker procurement at OSG. Richard was AVP of Commercial Operations of Aframax International, a pool of 45-50 ships. In 2010, he created a centralized fuel desk for OSG, arranging fuel for the Aframax, Suezmax, and product fleets. 90 ships managed by OSG’s office in NY, Houston, and Athens. Richard worked in the Supply and Distribution Department of Caltex where he scheduled entitlements of Indonesian and Arabian crude oil for Chevron, Texaco, and Caltex.
Danny joined Charles R. Weber in May 2012 as a broker. Prior to joining Charles R. Weber, he worked for MJLF for 5 years. He graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a BA in Economics in 2004.
Alex Schwinn started at Charles R. Weber as an intern in March of 2019 during his senior year and officially joined the Houston team in May of 2019, after graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Maritime Administration.
Haakan Svedin joined Weber in 2016 as a projects broker bringing years of experience from the ship owning, spot chartering, and period business side. Prior to joining Weber, Haakan worked for many prominent publicly traded ship owners such as ICB Shipping, Frontline, OMI Corp., and Teekay. For the past 7 years, Haakan managed the Gemini Tankers Suezmax Pool. Haakan has a degree in finance and accounting from the University of Stockholm.
Thomas Winn is part of our Houston team, focusing on Crude and DPP. Thomas is a graduate of Texas A&M and comes to us by way of AET where he spent three years. Prior to that, he worked as an agent at Inchcape, covering calls within the greater Houston ports, and also as broker/operator on a chemical desk.
Before joining Charles R. Weber, Max Yarbrough was Director Ship to Ship Transfers at Excelerate Energy, responsible for worldwide STS operations. He developed and led many firsts in the LNG industry, such as the first commercial LNG STS in Trinidad, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Subic Bay, Philippines, Limassol, Cyprus, and Israel. Additionally, developed and pioneered new devices to improve safety and efficiencies with each LNG STS operation. Before Excelerate, he was Commercial Manager at SPT and El Paso Marine subsidiary of El Paso Corporation. He graduated from Texas A&M University, Galveston, Texas, with a B.S. in Marine Transportation and achieved USCG License Unlimited Tonnage. He has sailing experience on container ships and tankers.
